A Cure for Depression
Psalm 42:5, 11 Msg. “Why are you down in the dumps, dear soul? Why are you crying the blues? Fix my eyes on God— soon I’ll be praising again. He puts a smile on my face. He’s my God.”
Depression affects 18% plus of the U.S. population and less than 33% of those seek help, that translates into over 58 million people. It isn’t age, race, ethnic or socially discriminatory either.
Reading the Psalmists of Korah’s sons, its clear depression was prevalent in their day as well. In this Psalm we’re given the antidote to depression.
“Fix our eyes on God” is the remedy. When our gaze is fixed on Him, our crisis, challenges and concerns are put in an eternal perspective, God’s! Praise reminds us of Whose we are and to Whom we belong.
Counsel can help, but when our focus is on Him it is certain to elevate our moods and emotions.
Just Praise Him!
