Are You Tired, Worn Out? There’s Hope!
It may be my age and those friends of mine, which for the most part are close to my age, but it seems I’m getting “worn out” faster than anytime before. I refuse to get old, in fact I intentionally reject the idea of being a grumpy old man (maybe there’s a movie title there somewhere).
During my Bible reading today in 2 Peter 2, a word jumped out while reading in the KJV – “vexed”, in the NJKV it’s translated “oppressed”. I checked out the Greek and discovered the word “vexed” means “worn out, or worn down”.
The word describes Lot prior to being delivered from Sodom. Peter, being inspired by the Holy Spirit, encourages us that if God knew how to deliver Lot from being worn out/down by a counter culture to the Kingdom of God, He knows how to deliver us from all temptations.
Following the thought launched by “vexed” in Sodom, if we’re being “worn down/out” by a particular temptation, God knows how to get us out of that environment as He did literally with Lot.
2 Peter 2:9 “God knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations . .”
Friend, God knows how to deliver and how to establish.
Rest in Him and you’ll discover you’re not as tired as you thought you were.
