Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
Written when David returned after Absalom’s insurrection the king could not wait to get back to Jerusalem, to the place of God’s house. Keep in mind this is still the “tabernacle of David” as the temple was not yet constructed. Yet David wasn’t content to observe the house of the Lord, he understood that it was in the house of the Lord that His presence would be encountered.
Having been pursued maligned and in fear of his life, David found consolation knowing there was a secure place to recover and reorient, the Presence of the Lord. The same is true for us today. We may not have to deal with an Absalom, but we too deal with insurrections of the flesh that can only be abated by His Presence. Don’t be content to hear of or observe the Presence of the Lord, go into His presence. His presence is as near as our supplication of mercy.
Go in to His presence!
