1 Cor. 1:10  Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Paul’s writing to the Church in Corinth addressed a number of challenges facing this growing and influential church.  In each of the issues, talking or gossiping was at least a partial contribution.

Divisions often come through divisive tongues.  Speaking with partial information, skewed perceptions, wounded hearts can lead to division and contentions.

There is an antidote,  being of the “same” mind and judgment (opinon, resolve) is the antidote.

When everyone is on the same page, not about every specific, but the general hope, expectation, direction based on common revelation of truth and strategy.  In that environment the church is poised for effectiveness.

“Lord, put a watch over the words of my mouth, speaking that which will build up, encourage hope and faith.”
