A Call of Consecration to the Word

2 Tim 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

One of four specific areas the Lord spoke that the Church needs to consecrate (be wholly committed to for His eternal purposes) is to the Word of God.

The Word is eternal, everything is going to pass away, yet His word will remain (Mark 13:31).  Some have more commitment to reading the news, watching favorite programs, keeping abreast of the latest fashion while only going to the Word when there’s crisis or chaos.

One of the great maladies of the day is shame, and yet we see in our scripture for today that diligence to be consecrated to the “word of truth” is a hedge against shame.

There is life (Isa. 40:8), abundant life for those who read, meditate and implement the Word into our lives. The Lord is faithful to His word.

The Word brings wisdom and if there was ever a time we need wisdom with all the chaos and challenges we face it’s today.  James (1:5) exhorts us to ask God for that wisdom.

Consecrate to the Word – it’s eternal!
