Messiah’s Ministry

Psalm 72: 12 -14   For He will deliver the needy when he cries, The poor also, and him who has no helper. He will spare the poor and needy, And will save the souls of the needy. He will redeem their life from oppression and violence; And precious shall be their blood in His sight.

This prayer by David for his son Solomon has the characteristics of a prophetic preview of what the reign of Jesus, Messiah, would look like!

The apparent context deals with those that have been disenfranchised by society; the needy, poor, rejected, oppressed and violated.  The truth of the matter is we all are described by the Psalmist, as we’ve been disenfranchised from the Kingdom of God by sin; leaving us all needy, poor, rejected, oppressed and violated.

The rest of the STORY, He came to be our Defender and Savior.  That’s His ministry to, for and hopefully through us!

Those who have paid the ultimate price for the gospel, He views their blood as “precious”.  Every saint of God that has lost their life for the sake of the gospel as a missionary or martyr have a special place and will be given a special reward one day.
