Affliction From God?
Psalm 119: 75 I know, O Lord, that Your judgments are right, And that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.
Affliction from God? Yes, but let’s define it first. Affliction isn’t physical illness or disease; rather affliction is correction or another scriptural term might be to chasten. One of the sub themes of this Psalm is affliction and in every instance it deals with correction, with the intent to draw back and get back on track.
It comes through the word first and foremost. It can come through reaping what has been sown. Defiance is a high price activity that has eternal consequences if not corrected. Sometimes the whirlwind we experience is a result of having sown to the wind. When that happens, we recalibrate and get back on track.
No correction, affliction or chastening is pleasant when given; however it does have productive fruit for eternity (Heb. 12).
Receive it from the Lord, because He loves us!
