Son or Slave?
Gal. 4:7 Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
Paul provides a contrast between slaves/servants and sons, note these characteristics. These aren’t gender exclusive, but apply to both men and women.
Slaves/servants: position based on performance, that begins with the basis of flesh, life is lived in condition of bondage (do’s & don’ts, et al) reviving/renewing performance based living with little fruit
Sons: position based on relationship, commences on the basis of promise from Father God, life is lived in the condition of liberty to live in the inheritance resulting in much fruitfulness.
One key element is the contrast between performance and relationship. Any limitations imposed as a son are for future benefit and blessing that result in quality of life superseding beyond my performance orientation mindset.
Praise the Lord we’re His sons and daughters.
