Prayers For Saints
How do we pray for the saints, members of the Body of Christ; local. trans-local and globally? The Disciple’s Prayer, more often referred to as the Lord’s Prayer is a good one, yet it’s more of a personal prayer. Paul’s writings to the various churches and leaders provide valuable insight, one of which was penned to the Philippian believers.
Phil. 1:9 – 11 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Keep in mind this prayer is for those who provoked gracious sentiment referenced earlier. were for continual increase of love even with knowledge and discernment. Too often my love is reduced the more known than before. Think of that even when we “know” stuff about people, may love increase exponentially.
That vision would be captivated by the “excellent” vs. the things that are devalued. There wouldn’t be any offense retained with authentic sincerity. For fruits of righteousness motivated by the Lord Himself in our hearts and behavior, bringing glory to the Father as opposed to ourselves.
Abounding love, increasing excellence, authentic sincerity and fruits of righteous living.
