Prophetic Presbytery ????
A couple days ago we wrote concerning the purpose of a prophetic presbytery, the obvious question is “what is that?”
1 Tim. 4: 14 Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the eldership.
We are given insight as to what this is in this scripture. A prophetic presbytery is a gathering of elders with the specific purpose of praying over and for those commissioned into ministry (don’t limit ministry to “vocational” ministry alone). In the atmosphere of prayer, often prophetic prayers and/or declarations are spoken.
The context of this reference reveals a specific gift was recognized or imparted during such a gathering for Timothy. The purpose of being admonished to “not neglect” the gift, is to keep Timothy on track. Not distracted or derailed from his calling, anointing and gifting to the Body of Christ.
Remember you have been equipped and empowered with at least one gift, more likely more, that will enables you to “stay in your lane” and not drift into areas we either aren’t called or gifted so you can maintain your strength.
Remembering your gifting, calling and recognized by others; purposes of a prophetic presbytery.
