Leadership Distractions
2 Tim. 2: 14 Remind them of these things, charging them before the Lord not to strive about words to no profit, to the ruin of the hearers.
Imparting vision and keeping the vision central is a priority for leadership. Often leaders are distracted by those they lead and other team leaders over “words of no profit”. In both letters to Timothy the apostle admonishes him to guard against the futility of empty words (1 Tim. 1:4); word that are “fables and endless genealogies”.
These are attempts to distract leadership from priorities and refocus on “minors” vs. “majors”; vs. 16 to avoid “profane & idle babblings” vs. 23, “foolish & ignorant disputes”. 2 T. 4:4 Turning aside to “fables” is symptomatic of the desire of itching ears, rather than sound doctrine.
Leaders guard yourselves from getting side tracked; stay on track with the Lord’s vision imparted to you for your ministry.
