Growing in Grace
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
These are some of Peter’s last words prior to his martyrdom in Rome. These words are exhortations on how to live in a culture that is counter to the culture of the Kingdom of God and have particular relevance to last days saints.
Note he exhorts us to “grow in the grace and knowledge” of Jesus. How do we “grow” in grace if it’s free? The word grow means to increase or enlarge and we’re to enlarge grace. Grace enables us to live victoriously over sin, not accommodate or live in a passive co-existence with sin or anything that would detract from the presence of God in any area of our life.
Peter admonishes us to not hold back but allow grace (enabling power) to have total access to our entire life – even those items or issues we don’t like to admit we are challenged by; all the while knowing we’re going to have to deal with it.
Don’t dodge or corner, enlarge the grace of Jesus to empower our entire lives.
