A Set Heart
Psalm 84: 5 – 7 Blessed is the man whose strength is in You, Whose heart is set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baca, They make it a spring; The rain also covers it with pools. They go from strength to strength; Each one appears before God in Zion.
Determining to follow the Lord, having a “set heart” assures the saint of God of accessing His presence. A set heart provides strength. Strength as the sons of Korah understood empowered them to go through difficult times. The Valley of Baca is literally the Valley of Weeping. Whatever prompts weeping, having a “set heart” will provide strength to enter His presence.
Baca could be a dry season, a “set heart” releases springs and showers to quench the thirsty soul. In that Valley of Baca feelings of isolation and being abandoned can play havoc in our minds, yet set hearts determine to press on.
Set hearts find ever increasing strength, “they go from strength to strength”.
A heart set on pilgrimage ultimately speaks of making it to heaven; however a “set heart” on pilgrimage also is determining to not camp in Baca. Set your heart, refuse to camp in sorrow, dry places, isolation, rejection, depression, anxiety, worry, doubt or unbelief.
Go from strength to strength by setting your heart.
