Be One!
When the Body of Christ is “one”, there are incredible ripple effects that result. Paul exhorted the Church then and by scripture, us as well to move to this highest level of covenant – Being One!
Phil. 2:2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
Three evidences of being “one” are one love, one accord and one mind! Having one love, the other oriented vs. self-centered is strategic. One accord carries the idea of harmony vs. dissonance. Being of one mind speaks to being in agreement vs. division/strife, especially over trivial issues.
In the next verses we see oneness is fleshed out by serving one another, elevating one another and esteeming one another above/over ourselves.
It was this kind of covenant, being one, that evidenced the early church’s relationships with one another that attested to the authenticity of their claim “Jesus is Lord”. Would that the Church, locally, regionally, nationally and globally would truly “be one”.
