Be Thankful

Psalm 100:4   Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.

There’s an imperative in this famous Psalm that may surprise you.  “Be thankful”!  The word in the Hebrew carries the idea of a knowing intimacy.  In fact, the word is translated numerous times when describing the relations between married couples, such as “And Adam knew his wife Eve” (Gen. 4:1).

Entrance into the presence of God isn’t for the blessings we yearn for, but for the relationship He desires to have with us, an intimacy.  Thanksgiving, praise, worship all are designed by the Lord for intimacy at a personal level that rejects the superficial and becomes vulnerable and open.

Be Thankful!
