Consider the Poor
Psalm 41:1 – 3 “Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, And he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed”
There are those who find themselves in tight places through no fault or dereliction of themselves, why should we respond to their plight? How should we respond?
We respond by considering them, i.e. assisting and enabling them to get back on track. Sometimes that is through financial, material or counsel in speaking the truth in love.
Why should we respond to them? In these verses there are 6 blessings to those who “consider” the poor.
When we attend to, understand and minister to the poor, the Lord will 1) deliver, 2) preserve, 3) bless, 4) protect, 5) strengthen when ill and 6) sustain during extended times of infirmity.
It sounds like it’s a wise thing to giving aid to those in need!
