He Didn’t Get Stuck With You!

During the years I was in elementary school, one of the most dreaded events was the spelling, arithmetic or geography bees.  Some of you may remember where the teacher would choose two captains and they would select those present in the classroom.   When it came to sports, there was little fear or anxiety about not getting selected early on, never first, but certainly not last.  When it came to the academic “bees”, that was another story.

I can still hear “we stuck with Hines”.

There have been times, I must admit, when it came to my relationship with God I thought He too got “stuck with Hines”. But there’s good news!  God didn’t “get stuck with you or me”.  In fact it’s just the exact opposite.

Eph. 1: 4ff  ”Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself.”

Did you get that?  He chose us, He didn’t get stuck with us!  PTL! Not only did He choose us, but positioned us as children, His sons and daughters.  We’ve been “chosen” to be in His family.

Adopted children can have challenges unlike those children born into a family, yet they have some unique blessings too.   The parents “chose” them knowing the heritage and in many cases the physical, emotional or circumstances.

God, Who knows all, chose us all the while knowing our imperfections, shortcomings and failures.  He wanted us in His forever family.

There are still times the enemy will attempt to pull me down with rejection, but when I recall He “chose” me purpose is renewed and my destiny is made more certain.

He didn’t get stuck with you either.  He chose you!  You’re His child!  And He’s wild about you!
