Impetuosity

Psalm 31:22    For I said in my haste, “I am cut off from before Your eyes”; Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications When I cried out to You.

Spoken words have consequences that reach beyond when we utter them, especially words spoken in the heat of the moment.  Reactive words often are released when we’re offended, hurt or misunderstood.

It is in those moments we need to guard our lips and the words that come out of our mouths (Ps. 141:3).  Being impetuous with our words concerning our current status hopefully will be realized as premature, based on changeable circumstances.

One of the benefits of waiting on the Lord and continuing to stand in faith trusting Him is that we don’t have to back pedal with words we’ve said hastily.

“Lord I pray that You will set a guard over my mouth and keep a watch of the doors of lips. I am thankful for the blessing of my life by You!  May I become that mature man who chooses to wait on You!
