Liberated for Mercy
James 2:13b Mercy triumphs over judgment.
Many times I find myself confronted with two polar opposite opportunities in the context of relationships; either to be judgmental or to be merciful. One alienates the other restores!
Sometimes we are called to side with judgment, but for me too often the action is premature and prompted by self. The areas of application are inclusive of all kinds of relationships; marriage, family, neighbors, associates, employers, employees, even with God!
Yet if we’ll heed James’ admonishment, we will discover many times the judgment mind set was predicated on partial information at best. “There are known unknowns!”
Mercy trumps judgement. Especially with interpersonal relationships; if you’re going to be wrong, better to be wrong on the side of mercy than on the side of judgement.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy!
