Resisting

James 4: 7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

There is much discussion concerning spiritual warfare with principalities and the powers of darkness in recent years.  Saints of God have and need to exercise the authority delegated by the Lord Jesus Christ.

James gives us two foundational principles by which we have the authority and ability to resist or come against the devil and his minions.  In the preceding verse we read that God “gives grace to the humble” and in our scripture reading we’re exhorted to “submit to God”.

Humility and submission are two principles that are crucial for effective and victorious warring in the spiritual realm.  Arrogant loose cannons have little impact in spiritual warfare.   However authentic humility exercised in submission are powerful.

Resist the enemy these two, humility and submission, and you’ll see him flee!
