The Cry of His People
Psalm 107: 6, 13, 19, 28 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, And He delivered (saved vss. 13, 19) them out of their distresses.
This Psalm was written when Israel was returning to the Promised Land, after having been taken captive into Babylon. As they are about to cross the threshold, returning to their land of promise there are several admonishments repeated, one of which is found here.
Wandering vagabonds, throughout seventy years they had discovered whether during affliction by their captors and adversaries or when they didn’t know which way to go; God “delivered them”. He set them free.
They made proclamation to the Lord of repentance and contrition resulting in liberty. The same is true today! When we make passionate proclamation in the midst of affliction or waywardness, He’ll deliver us. In the midst of correction and even in the shadow of death, He heard their cry.
And He hears your cry too! Especially on this Resurrection Day!
