Doctrine is important for every saint of God, the teaching of foundational Christian truths that provide guidance and stability in our odyssey of faith
2 Tim. 1: 14 That good thing which was committed to you, keep by the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
I cringe when well intentioned saints discount or down play the benefit of doctrine. The Apostle Paul admonished Timothy to “hold fast” to doctrines (teaching) that were “sound”; establishing faith and love.
He states unashamedly that sound doctrine is a “good thing”. Teaching that is uncorrupted or pure. Teaching that cultivates inner character that is wholesome, beautiful, valuable and virtuous to and for every saint.
Remember there is value in sound doctrine – pay attention and minimize distractions while listening as your Pastor ministers the Word of God.
