2 Chron. 32:7 “Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him.
With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.”
Saints of God are often confronted by challenges that seem impossible, overwhelming and hopeless. Being surrounding by a culture that is not just antagonistic, but outright violent toward the things of the Lord, provides leadership an opportunity to encourage the faint hearted and battle weary saint.
Hezekiah found himself in such a situation when the Assyrians laid siege against Jerusalem. Yet because of his total confidence in the Lord, Hezekiah encouraged the people to “be strong and courageous” because there “more with us than” with the enemy, “the Lord our God” was with them.
We need to remind ourselves we’re fighting the culture wars alone. “With us is the Lord our God”. He’s with you, never to leave or forsake you. An ever present help in the time of need.
